Flower Painting Experiment

I’m off to a good start this summer with all my plans for crafting and do-it-yourselves … Hope I can continue, in between these soccer games and tournaments.

Here’s my first attempt at colouring flowers.  I blogged about it last week in my other blog, the crafts one, and even got a science lesson.  Well, science wasn’t really my favourite subject then; these days I just find it interesting.

Anyway, here’s the results of my experiment.

Next time I’ll know better what to do.

Veined Petals

My current colour obsession

I know that the Pantone colour of the year is emerald, but my eyes are drawn more to this combination more than other colours.

The roses are about a week old, but I think that helped highlight the veins and threads through the petals.

I need to take up dyeing and painting again … so I can recreate something like this …

Rambling Again

My allergies are back … this must be a particularly bad allergy season, because the last time I had seasonal allergies was about twenty years ago, and all of a sudden, my nose and head are all stuffed up, and I’m walking around in a daze and dozing off at odd moments … I suspect as a result from the allergy medicines …  and I woke up just in time to get off my bus stop, or else I would have had to call somebody at home to come and pick me up in some other town …

I’m rambling again, aren’t I?

Here’s some flowers to start off your weekend … maybe I’ll feel up to posting again next week.

Have a good weekend, all!

Textures and Lines

My eyes are always drawn to lines, patterns and textures everywhere, and photographing flowers was no exception.

The orchids specially have so many patterns and textures.

They’re like fingerprints … no two seem to be exactly alike.

Maybe similar … but not the same.

There were even some that reminded me of those Rorschach blots and tests.  Do they still use those tests?

Or one of those art projects where you splatter blobs of paint on the paper; then fold the paper in half to make mirror images.

Hmmm … this kind of looks like a face …

Some look like they were painted on the petals …

… and some look like sun rays ..

So much beauty in nature, isn’t there?
