Never Ending Ink

I could feel the ink running dry … the ink was not as dark, and lines were starting to skip across the page, as I drew.

So I decided to just make quick doodles until the ink ran out …

I started with this, a couple of weeks ago …

And would you believe that the ink has still not run out ?!?

So I start a little shading and going over the lines …

And I start another one … and the ink is still going …

Wow … I better look for this same pen and get some more!

‪World Environment week … Save Our Oceans .. I Live By the Sea

More on the #SaveOurOceans exhibition.

A youth photography contest to show where they live, by the sea.   And they have some great photos there, better than what I could have taken.

Like this – my favourite … ‘Perpetual Pleading’ … and the Baltic Sea one …

LoL … yes, Hubby did always say that crabs were aliens.  I should show this to him …

Sad to see the effects of pollution on the waters and oceans …

I shall be more mindful of cleaning up after myself when at the beach.

‪World Environment Week … Art to Save the Seas ‬

It’s ‪World Environment Week , with a Save Our Oceans theme.

There are several exhibitions going on, but I haven’t seen all of them.  Here’s just a few that I saw, on my hurried way to work.  And what a way to get our attention!

Here’s Nora the Salmon 🙂

I was drawn to her, out of the three sculptures.  Something about her rising above the pollution … or maybe all those shiny parts on her body.

I liked Stella the Seahorse as well.  Didn’t find her as dramatic as Nora the Salmon, though.

And Grace the Humpback Whale … well, I guess the tail is really the most recognizable part, isn’t it?

If our children, and children’s children, and their children are to enjoy Mother Nature’s gifts to us, we really do need to start cleaning up now.

We don’t think much of it, but those plastic bags and lines, garbage and trash, other objects foreign to the seas are destroying the planet.

I can’t think of a time where our children or grandchildren will not be able to enjoy running on a sandy beach in the warm sunshine.

Can you?

‘Late Nights’ Done

I’m done with the late night doodles …

I wanted to do a bit more with the middle part, but no ideas were coming to mind.  So apart from a little more shading here and there,  I’ll call this done !

I’m getting closer to what I think of as a mandala.  Maybe the next one …

Oh, and Happy May 1st!

Too Much Time in the Office

I was stuck late in the office a couple of nights ago, waiting for Hubby to finish working on reports to meet a deadline.  I didn’t have any deadlines to meet, and I didn’t want to work any more.  My brain had already shut off at 5 pm, so it wasn’t accepting reading any work emails, anyway.

But my fingers wanted to be doing something.  I did have a crochet project with me, but I didn’t want to work on it.  I wasn’t feeling it – it’s probably going to be frogged and I will be looking for another pattern to work on.

So I started doodling.  Well, I guess you could call this ‘structured’ doodling, because I was using a ruler, and trying to measure out equal spaces free hand (no protractor on hand).   I thought maybe I could come up with a decent mandala this time, I had all the time to work on it now.

I had something in mind, but I forgot what I wanted to do by the time I started drawing.  I wasn’t planning on any shading until I had finished drawing it out, but then there was a little mistake here and there, so I started to draw over the lines, and now there’s shading.

This is how far I’ve gotten.  I’ve cleaned it up a bit, and will start shading and blacking, until I decide whether to cover up the whole sheet, or stop here.  It’s not perfectly round with symmetrical designs – so much for drawing lines and measuring out spaces, lol –  but I’m getting there.

Have a good weekend, everybody!

A Spot of Blue

Happy First Day of Spring !

Yes, it’s spring today – it’s supposed to be warmer today (with a cold wind).  But there’s a forecast of snow for Wednesday, so we’ll see how long that will last …

More meetings … more doodles …

And a spot of blue …

There’s something, just out of reach of my mind, that I want to do with the black stars  … I can’t quite grasp what it is, but it’s there … Maybe the spot of blue will help, jog my subconscious, or something.

Happy Spring Day, all !

Almost There

It’s coming along …

I’ve always wanted to just fill a canvas with doodles and drawings, of flowers or anything that might resemble a drawing, but none has turned out the way what I had in mind. Advice from the forums – and which I had also suspected was my problem – was to slow down, take your time.

So, after hours of sitting in meetings, or just to relax my mind a little during mini-breaks in the office, I’ve managed to fill two half-pages of doodling.  I stuck with flowers, or flower-like doodles … that’s where my sub-conscious took my brain and hand, so I just let it draw what it felt like drawing.

I’ve started on the shading, feeling the need to fill in all white spaces again.  There’s times when I’ve stared at it trying to decide what or where the next pattern should be, only to come up with the same thing.  So okay, continue with it.  If my brain wants to draw the same patterns over and over, so be it.

I was surprised when I unfolded the sheet of paper and this came out … oh!  Two completely different designs, and yet it looks like one!  I’m liking this …

It actually looks like a different drawing to me now. And now that I see what it looks like overall, my brain is spinning on how to tie it all together.

But I probably shouldn’t even think about it … my brain will tell my hand to draw the same things, anyway!  😉
