Almost in Crochet Heaven

I thought I was going to be in crochet heaven …. This is what I saw when I stepped out of the Convention Center after we left the Flower Show.

I was ready to spend another hour or two inside, even though it was getting late and we had to get going for the drive home.

Alas … it was a fabric museum.

Although I should have gone in to have a look.  Maybe they had crochet items in there.

Next time.

Too Much For the Eyes

Miniatures - coffee bean theme
Miniature display

Here’s a collection of what caught my eye during the Flower Show.

In between people walking in front of me, bumping me, waiting for people to finish posing in front of a display while they get their picture taken, I got a few shots in.  I’m sure I missed some other would-be great shots … maybe next year.

Still a bit too many pictures … but there were so many to choose from … and I cut down a lot … really, I did!

Purples, Blues and Greens

I could have spent all day on this exhibition (from Michael Bruce Florist), taking pictures from every possible angle. Maybe taking a picture of every flower on display.
This was my absolute favorite from the Flower Show. Yes, these are the color combinations that draws my eyes and that I use on my projects, so maybe I’m partial to them.
But to have the colors together on a flower! on an orchid! Wow is all I can say.

Slipper Orchids and More

I couldn’t help myself … they were all over the place … I had to take pictures of these beauties, even though I’ll be going to the Orchid Show at the NYBG later this month and I’ll probably take a gazillion photos of the same ones.

But perhaps it’s just a testament to their beauty that they always catch my eye for a second look … and a third …

The Flower Show

I was at the Philadelphia International Flower Show over the weekend … and went on a photo-taking spree!  Well, as much as I could, in between jostling for a position, in between bodies, over the heads, dodging passers-by …

But it was good to just spend time taking pictures, and playing with the camera and learning how to take photos of something other than sports/soccer action. This summer, one of my mini-resolutions is to take walking tours of the city. In addition to learning more about the city, I’ll get a chance to practise with the camera and learn how to take better pictures.

I’ll be posting photos in batches (that’s the structured/list-obsessed in me) … I’m also trying to develop a more critical eye when reviewing the photos, so that I’ll post the absolute best one that I took. But I’m not there yet, so I’ll post more than one of what I think was the best photo (of the category). LOL ! Let’s see how much I can cut down with that!
