This is how far I’ve gotten with this doodle … not much done since then.  I tried to get some doodles done to settle my mind, but it didn’t work this time.  So this is as far as I got on this.

So much going on and late nights the past couple of weeks.  The in-laws were over for several weeks, and even though they’re family, routines and timetables changes.  Oh, not to mention that my PC was in the guest bedroom, so I couldn’t stay up late working on it, could I?  🙂  Well – they’ve left.  So I can work on it again!!   And I’m sleeping in late tomorrow … no extra guests to see to 🙂

Good weekend, all !

Sunrise Mandalas

I sat on the beach, waiting for the sunrise, and got restless.  There was only so much experimenting I could do with the camera settings – if I got one decent photo of the sunrise, then good.

So I started drawing in the sand.  IMG_4300

I had always wanted to draw something in the sand as a souvenir or memory of our stay on the sand.  I thought about the footprints in the sand, when the boys were still young, but they couldn’t-wouldn’t stand still.  They didn’t sit long enough for the date-and-place scribbles either.  I figured I would know from the photos where we were, anyway.

I didn’t think about just drawing anything, and certainly not about mandalas, even though I had been doodling and drawing those since I was young.  So now, I try to remember to draw simple mandalas on whatever beach we are on.

Which reminds me – when going through old, old photos from an old chocolate tin can, I knew that if I flipped the photo over I would see my father’s or mother’s writing on the back, identifying the date and place of the photo taken.  Good to see my father’s writing once in a while – big, bold strokes.  My boys’ writing is small and cramped, no matter how many times I tell them to write bigger.  Anyways … I digress again.

I continued to draw in the sand as the sun came up over the horizon, stopping now and then to take pictures.   Unconsciously, I had also drawn a sunrise on the sand.

How cool is that! Actually, I didn’t know what else to do, and the squiggly lines started out with another design in mind, that just went on its own.

Inspired, I drew another mandala.  But then the sun got hotter, and it was time to go in for breakfast.

Yes, it was a good sunrise. 🙂

Starting Fresh

There’s something about using a pen for the first time … the feel of holding a new pen … the smell of fresh ink … the first stroke of the pen and the solid line it makes … Whenever I start to use a new pen, I have to start a fresh page … of something, anything.

The never-ending ink pen finally ran out of ink, and here’s the replacement.  The same pen, brand new, with fresh ink.

So I plotted out a new drawing … it was supposed to be a mandala, but the compass kept shifting on me.  I need to look for a good compass, one that doesn’t start folding on me as I draw the circles.  I’m leaving it as it is … the filled-in designs might turn out to be interesting.

But because I really wanted to start using the pen now!  🙂 I doodled a bit.

Hmmm … I think I like this doodles better than the one just drawn …

Happy Wednesday !

Checking Out Designs

So … it must be a rite of passage that sometime, sooner or later, boys (and gals) will think about getting tattoos .  hmmmm …

Not a fan of tattoos, myself.  The art of the tattoos, yes.  The body canvas … not so much.

Talk about it comes up once in a while … ‘Right, Mom?  We’re going to get tattoos?’ … and they’ll get an eye-roll in return from me.

So as we were walking up and down the Hollywood sidewalk – we literally walked about three miles that night – from the parking lot about a mile down, to the center and beyond, and back again … whew … yes, well, this sidewalk stall caught Tin’s eye, and he stopped to flip through their binder.

These were the brush-on ones, similar to those he’s had from time to time when he was younger.

I told him that I could probably doodle some designs and I have a drawing book for him to look through and consider.

I got an eye-roll from him … lol

4:02 pm

4:02 pm … The exact minute when fall arrives this year … Already ??

Each year, it seems that fall arrives earlier and earlier.  Or maybe it’s because I feel like I haven’t had enough of summer and hot sun yet.  But the days march on, and then it’s fall.

Ok … so maybe this year we get an extra week of summer.  The weather forecast says that it’s going to be in the high 80’s F this weekend.  I’ll take it.

But for now, I’m a little stressed … So I’ve picked up pen and paper to set my mind in order.

And of course, I get another idea while in the middle of something …

But that’s good stress, right?  That your brain is buzzing with indecisions while being creative, right?  I don’t know … I’m going back to doodling.

Have a good weekend, all !

Never Ending Ink

I could feel the ink running dry … the ink was not as dark, and lines were starting to skip across the page, as I drew.

So I decided to just make quick doodles until the ink ran out …

I started with this, a couple of weeks ago …

And would you believe that the ink has still not run out ?!?

So I start a little shading and going over the lines …

And I start another one … and the ink is still going …

Wow … I better look for this same pen and get some more!
