Giving Back to Others

Since there were only so much hats and afghans that my boys would use, and I couldn’t keep all those finished projects in boxes in the house, I went looking for charitable organizations that I could send them to.

Here’s a list of those that I contribute to.  I also send hats and scarves each winter to a teacher in a low-income/inner-city area for her students.  I’ll surely find more projects to add to this, but this keeps me busy for now.

Project Linus – making blankets for children and babies

Ship’s Project  – hats for the US troops

Cheyenne River Youth Project – located in Eagle Butte, South Dakota

Warm Up America – my first completed contributions; squares that were then stitched together to make blankets and afghans

Scarves for Special Olympics – until recently, when they announced that they have discontinued this project 😦

Knit and Crochet for a Cause – a group of crafters on Facebook who picked up where the Scarves for Special Olympics left off.  It’s also a place to talk about your charities, and show off your projects.

Purple Stitch Project – new cause; just recently started up, to raise awareness of epilepsy.
